Recent scientific research suggests that NAD+ is involved not only in the production of energy necessary for human life, but also plays an important role in almost all currently known mechanisms of human aging.

For example, NAD+ is an important direct cofactor of key enzymes responsible for longevity, called sirtuins. Sirtuins, SIRT1-7, are closely linked to longevity by controlling gene expression and require NAD+ for their activity. By activating sirtuins, we can gain control over "aging.

SIRTs "turn off" genes that contribute to aging, such as those involved in inflammation, fat synthesis and storage, and blood sugar regulation. SIRTs restore and lengthen telomeres (protective caps at the ends of DNA), participate in the regulation of oxidative stress, etc.
